Well 2013 is half way done and its been one hell of a year for The Car Bombs.
I decided to write a kind of year in review for The Car Bombs 2013. In the past six months, Big Mike dropped from the band and Aldo San Diego joined up. We played The Launchpad in Duke City (ABQ, NM). This was Aldo's first show with the band and very special for me. The Launchpad has steadily and for a long time, booked some of the best shows in the region. I had always wanted to go to a show there. The very first time I went there, I played it. Not only was it Aldo's first show with the band, it was his first show ever. He fucking killed it though. A testament to how good the show was, we were invited back to play the annual St Punktrix Day show. From there we have played several venues around El Paso. We've played The War Room, Paulina's Badlands, Bombardiers, The Tequila Garage, and Rockhouse at The Cockpit. We've been invited back to all of those venues. We've played the War Room twice and Badlands 3 times. We have a 2 returning shows later this month at Bombardiers and Rockhouse, and are working on a show in August at the tequila Garage. We are also working on getting back up to Duke City for the 3rd time this year. I know I cant go long with out some Rebel Donuts. It feels good to be asked back to play these venues. It means we are doing something right and people are believing in us.
This year we also released our limited run Chainsaw shirt. We made the shirt availible for the first time on our second trip back up to Albuquerque. I remember when we started playing there was this young punker girl watching us play and she was getting into it. Three songs into the set I remember her nodding her head and going straight to the merch table and bought the very first shirt. The shirts were available for only 20 minutes before the first one was sold. That's pretty fucking rad.
We also started a ton of websites, one of which you are on. We have a Twitter, Facebook, this page, SoundCloud, ReverbNation, and a YouTube. We have grown quite a group of fans. The people that are into us and our music are really awesome people and we have had a drink with damn near all of them. We love the Bomb Squad. Without its members, we are nothing. You guys and gals buy our merch, listen to our music, follow our pages, and go to our shows. Thank you!
We have also been working on the E.P. We have a ton of stuff to put on it, dont be surprised if it turns into a full length album. The new material is fucking brutal and fast and lethal. We are all very excited about it. We have been keeping the video camera close by too, so you will get to see the behind the scenes shit.
The first half of the year has been amazing and so far the second half is shaping up to be just as great. I really am grateful for all the support you guys have shown us. I know the rest of the guys feel the same too. Stay tuned for news on upcoming shows and more news about how the recording is going.
